Smart digital applications and tools for the effective promotion and enhancement of the Ionian Islands bio-diversity

Ionian University invites all interested parties to participate in the ERMIS project Information Day, which will take place in person at the Ionian Academy (Akadimias & Kapodistriou, Corfu), on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at 18:00 with free admission for the public.

The project ERMIS entitled: "Smart digital applications and tools for the effective promotion and enhancement of the Ionian Islands bio-diversity" is co-funded by the European Union and is implemented in the framework of the Operational Programme "Ionian Islands 2014-2020".

The key actions of the ERMIS project include the creation of a digital umbrella platform for a bouquet of digital services, tools and applications that is available on the Internet and highlight the biodiversity of the Ionian Islands. In the framework of the project, an easy-to-use digital database, a search and presentation platform and a "smart" mobile phone application have been created, where both specialized scientists and the general public can contribute and search for information on all fauna and flora species occurring in the wider geographical area of the Ionian Sea, where the ERMIS project actions are located.

All activities carried out within the ERMIS project include the production of relevant digital content, which is published and available on the project's digital portal for the first time in the history of our Region! In particular, through the collective effort of the last 3 years within the framework of the ERMIS project, the flora and fauna of a vast geographical area of the Ionian Sea and the Ionian Islands is digitally recorded and catalogued! 

In this context, the digital portal of the project is a fundamental tool for the implementation of its actions, including its economic and social aspects, while it is also a reservoir of links to the main activities and related actions carried out throughout the project and beyond its contractual duration.
