What is an Individual Capstone Project?

The Individual Capstone Project is an applied research project through which students utilize the knowledge, skills, methods, and tools acquired during their Postgraduate Program to address a real-world problem from their workplace or a broader organizational environment. The project focuses on clearly identifying and describing a specific problem, conducting a limited and targeted literature review, and placing strong emphasis on designing, implementing, and evaluating a proposed solution to resolve the issue.

Although it shares similarities with a standard master's thesis/research paper, the Individual Capstone Project is explicitly applied in nature, aiming to propose and implement an innovative solution or optimization for an existing organizational issue. Consequently, the Capstone Project does not merely seek a theoretical exploration of an issue, but primarily the search for a practical and evidence-based solution to a real organizational or business problem. For this reason, the project must identify and analyze the problem, propose and implement an approach to tackle it, and finally formulate specific proposals or recommendations. A successful Capstone Project may result in the proposal of a new product, technique, method, process, or innovative management approach to address the issue under examination.

The duration of the project is three months. Students declare the individual project they will undertake at the end of the third trimester. The project is carried out during the fourth trimester of studies. Following the completion of the project, a defense/presentation takes place before a three-member committee. The Capstone Project corresponds to 15 ECTS credits.
