Objectives and Goals

The Master’s Program in “Digital Applications and Innovation” covers a wide range of knowledge related to computer science, information systems, and administration science. The importance of information systems and Information Technologies and Communication (ICT) is essential for enhancing innovation at the national level. In particular, Information and Communication Technologies act as a catalyst to improve the functioning of businesses and the efficiency of the public administration (through e-government). The main objective of the Master’s Program is to provide students with the skills to understand and utilize innovative IT applications in high-specialization sectors such as tourism, culture, environment, health, and e-business.

The importance of acquiring user skills of emerging digital technologies (e.g. sensors, intelligent technologies for humanitarian data management, mobile computing, robotics) is of great importance, particularly in the context of the economic crisis in Greece. Studies have shown that sustainable economic growth in developed countries is heavily dependent on technological progress and innovation. This is due to the correlation between technological innovation and the improvement of production processes, as well as the development of new or improved products and services, which create significant added value in an economy and lead to new job opportunities.

The Master’s Program in “Digital Applications and Innovation” provides innovative academic and scientific knowledge in knowledge objects related to computer science, information systems, and administration science. The program aims to provide expertise in the following areas:

  • Advanced application development technologies in IT with a focus on internet, wireless, and mobile communications, robotics, and analytics/intelligent data management.
  • Modern administration and management methods for information systems at the organizational and business level.
  • Development of modern information systems in cutting-edge sectors such as tourism, culture, environment, and biomedicine.
